The scent on this pomade is very unique! Sort of cucumber melon. There’s no denying that this is one of the best oil bases out there. Check out my full review at https://slickpomadereviews.wordpress.com/2015/09/18/lockharts-goon-grease/

    My hair profile:
I’ve medium thick, wavy hair. I wear a side part with a contour. At the moment, I’m using a brush with wild boar hair, a Denman brush plus a wide tooth comb (detangler). During styling, I use brushes most.

    Scent:
Citrus Cologne with hints of cucumber and citrus. I smellt a subtle sweetness too. The scent isn’t overwhelming at all, very good balanced it is. I get subtle whiffs during daytime. Is this scent not your cup of tea? Than there’s the cinnamon sandalwood option and in another tin (picture below) a lemon scented one.

    Application process – result:
Inside the tin you see a green pomade. Don’t worry, the color doesn’t affect the color of your hair. The top layer is waxy. Scooping out goes easy, no fingernail comes in handy, no force needed! Breakdown is easy too: little resistance and a waxy, sticky texture that becomes buttery after a few mixes. Goes in easy without tug and pull, goes in slick, spreads evenly without any issue. Used 3 normal sized scoops. This pomade goes in like a light but don’t overdo (could weigh hair down thus styling difficulties). Shortly: less is more, you can always add pomade. Gives a solid, sticky grip. Combing (Denman brush): no tug, no pull. Styling time: around average. Tames waves, the sides, cowlicks very well. Nice clean hair shape without flyaways, strays. Great height. Pomade washes off of the hands okay.

    Shine:
    Great shine, all day long.

    Hold – endurance:
Heavy hold on the label. To me, more a firm one. After initial styling, hair maintains shape perfectly: no strays, no flyaways, hair goes nowhere! Holds hair in place the whole day and straightens waves, cowlicks are tamed, sides are held down nice, no splitting. Heavy wind or any rain, cycling or a walk don’t mess up your hair. Didn’t test in the heat but this pomade will cope. At the end of the day: very few flyaways, very few strays, nearly no sagging. Feels light in the hair. Soft with a not so greasy feel in the hair.

    Restyling:
No problem. No loss of hold after restyling. Waves don’t come through, sides held down. No resistance when restyling (Denman brush). I didn’t need to recomb, hair didn’t move!

    Build up:
Bit of a greasy build up. Days after: one (little) scoop extra: ready. Don’t use too much: the build up combined with a hair tonic provides great styling.

    Washing out:
Need around 3 showers to wash out with shampoo. After the rinse, my hair was soft.

I made an inventory of degreasing methods that can help you: https://piw74.com/2016/07/12/an-inventory-of-degreasing-methods/

    Hair, scalp issues:
    No breakouts, allergies, itching.
