Bertold Roux –
My hair profile:
I’ve medium thick, wavy hair. I wear a side part with a contour. I used a wide tooth comb plus a brush with wild boar hair. I use brushes mostly.
Scent:
Smell a sun lotion alike scent, a cologne scent. Others call it ‘an old man scent’.This scent is not overpowering, not weak either, smells all day without being too dominant. It’s an agreeable aroma.
Application process – result:
Although the product contains several preservatives, it’s not bad to wash your hands and dry them well before use. Afterwards: remove hairs from your jar. It is a water based and where’s water, there can be mold! The pomade has a gold color presenting the gold rush. Similar to Shiner gold and reuzel red/blue. Scooping out of the tin: super easy. Has a tick, sticky feel like the most orthodox water based pomades. Breaking it down is a breeze. Goes in easy, spreads easy and evenly in a second. 3 average scoops and got a very steady, sticky grip. Nice slicked back hair. Combing through without resistance. Styles easy and slick (because of the hemp oil, I suppose). Hair began to stiffen up while styling but still manageable. Shape unchanged after initial styling. Got a nice hairstyle. Good hair height being a medium. It gave me a neat, clean hairdo fit for more formal events.Tamed my cowlicks. Waves straightened. Slicked the sides down fast, great, not sticky against your head. Styling time: rather fast. First you get a very sticky feel, this decreases to become a bit stiff. Gives a relative lightweight feel.
Shine:
Medium shine, all day.
Hold – endurance:
Medium hold. Holds hair in place for the rest of the day: just a few flyaways. Wind or a bit of rain don’t mess up the shape. Heat around 70: no problem for gold rush. Firms up, stiffens, does not harden into a helmet, steady settling. Waves and cowlicks: tamed all day. No splits. Sides: held down great.
Restyling:
Didn’t need to restyle my hair actually. Trying that out: no water needed, dry combing is possible when using a brush (like I always do). Using a comb: some resistance. Choosing for a water scource is an easier option. The shine fades. The pomade keeps a good hold.
Washing out:
Water only needed. Hair and scalp feel okay afterwards: not dried out, a desert or coarse. This makes this pomade one of the better ones. If this softness stays on after longer time use, I do not know. Most ortho wb tend to make the hair (somewhat) dry after a while depending on the hair type, … .
Hair, scalp issues:
No allergies, itching, dandruff.
