This orthodox “gel-type” styles quickly and has a great hold WITHOUT becoming stiff and crunchy!
I absolutely LOVE the scent, which is fresh, musky and masculine. Application is very easy, and it washes out completely in one go.
I may have to grab the Oil Based version now as well !

PRODUCT
Categorized as a water based pomade, gel pomade, ‘ringing’ gel or orthodox pomade. It has a firm hold. It’s a chemical based pomade. The choice of its ingredients looks fine to me: no parabens as preservatives but other safer ones. It’s hand made by the American barber Chris DeSanty.
INGREDIENTS
Water (Aqua), Ceteareth-25, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Fragrance (Parfum), PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polysorbate-20, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Caramel.
SCENT
Musk, masculine. Not overpowering, well balanced. You will notice it occasionally.
SCOOPING OUT AND MIXING
It has a yellowish, transparant color. It has a very tick, stiff texture. You need a bit of force to get it out of the jar. To mix it, you need a bit of force too.
APPLICATION
You better use it on damp or a bit wet hair because of its thickness and stiffness. So you can avoid tugging and pulling. You just need a few small scoops. Small scoops are recommandable instead of big scoops. It gives a firm grip immediately. Styling with it goes well. There’s a bit tug and pull while combing. The product feels dry, not sticky or greasy at all.
SHINE
It starts (and stays) matte. Shine is a bit above your natural hair shine.
DURABILITY IN NORMAL AND (HEAVIER) WEATHER CIRCUMSTANCES
As I mentioned before, it has a firm hold. Some wind and a bit of rain won’t destroy your hair. It can resist some heat. Your hair stays in place the whole day. At the beginning you get a bit of a helmet head feeling but this fades. Once it had dried, it did not harden up as a gel (I applied it on a bit wet hair, hence maybe). It just settled.
RESTYLING
Water needed. The hold weakens after recombing it. But restyling is not necessary in most of the case.
WASHING OUT
Just water and it’s out in 1, 2, 3. The hair and scalp feel slightly dry but this is neglectable. I guess dryness will start once you use it on an every day base: it’s still an orthodox pomade that tend to dry out hair and scalp. But all this said: this is one of the better ones when you compare it to suavecito that sucks the life out the hair for some people.
CONCLUSION
+
Quality product with an okay price.
Keeps the hair in place the whole day.
Don’t need a lot so you can do a long time with one jar.
Application is allright it being a firm one with a stiff, thick texture.
Some rain, wind and heat won’t destroy your pomp.
There is just a tiny bit of dryness after washing it out.
Smell is masculine and balanced.
Hand made with good ingredients.
One of the better gel pomades.
No or not much hardness when it dries.
–
Loss of hold after restyling.
